Kickoff for KomAdapt: Khoch3 KlimaKarten wins funding in the state competition Grüne Gründungen.NRW

Five pilot partners test the all-in-one tool for municipal climate adaptation: Kreis Mettmann, the City of Kaarst, the Municipality of Titz, the City of Jülich and the City of Kerpen

Khoch3 KlimaKarten is one of 14 projects in the fourth round of Grüne Gründungen.NRW to receive their funding commitment at Startup Village Jülich, presented by NRW Environment Minister Oliver Krischer. The innovation competition of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia is co-financed by the EFRE/JTF programme NRW 2021 to 2027 and managed by the NRW innovation funding agency at Projektträger Jülich. The project receives around €600,000 in funding.

With this funding, Khoch3 KlimaKarten is developing KomAdapt through August 2028, the digital all-in-one tool for municipal climate adaptation: geodata-based risk analysis for heat, heavy rain, flooding and drought, measure planning with cost and impact assessment, automated funding-program matching, and monitoring and reporting.

As pilot partners, Kreis Mettmann, the City of Kaarst, the Municipality of Titz, the City of Jülich and the City of Kerpen are testing the tool in day-to-day administrative practice from the start. Participation is free of charge for the municipalities. In Kreis Mettmann, a district-wide rollout across 10 municipalities is planned.

Development follows a simple principle: what is not practical inside an administration does not get built. Every function is therefore created together with the pilot municipalities, from the first risk analysis and the prioritisation of measures to the documentation needed for council decisions and funding applications.
